u4 / afterhours

An autonomous, silent, evolving fractal wallpaper.

WINDOWS
Install Lively Wallpaper from https://www.rocksdanister.com/lively/
Open Lively > Add Wallpaper > Open, then select U4-Afterhours-Lively.zip.
Choose u4 / afterhours in the library to apply it behind your desktop icons.
Right-click its library tile > Customize to change form, evolution, glow and detail.
Evolution at zero holds the current geometry. Balanced detail is the default.
Lively's tray menu can pause or close the wallpaper. Closing it reveals your normal Windows background.

Everything needed to draw the wallpaper is included. It does not request a microphone, capture system audio, or send images anywhere. Keep the extracted files together.

THE MOTION
Three independent Lorenz trajectories use sigma=10, beta=8/3, and rho=28,28.4,28.8. Fourth-order Runge-Kutta integration feeds their coordinates into the same recursive branch maps used by Recursion. This wallpaper has its own autonomous clock; it does not change the FL plugin's sound-only evolution.

The view stays fixed. Local branches grow and bend; color and feedback follow the evolving field. Four forms are available: etched rings, thorn star, Julia garden and folded filaments. The state saves locally about every 20 seconds so a reopened wallpaper can continue from a recent point. Browser storage must remain available for this memory.

It is generated live rather than playing a video loop. Finite GPU precision, iteration counts and image resolution still apply. Performance depends on your graphics hardware, resolution and selected form. Lively can pause wallpapers behind fullscreen apps; configure that in Lively's Performance settings.

The web preview is available from the Recursion site. Click the picture to show its controls; controls hide after inactivity. The actual desktop wallpaper contains no buttons or text once loaded.
